Tottenham spent a huge amount of money in the summer to compensate for losing Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, but it has been one of the players who was already at White Hart Lane that has caught my attention this season.
Mousa Dembele has been remarkable this season statistically. Not only has he racked up a score on Squawka’s performance rating to surpass all of his team-mates, but he has bettered them in almost every aspect.
The Belgium international has really shown what he’s about this season in the middle of the pitch, and compliments Sandro brilliantly. he has completed 91% of his attempted passes – the best in the Spurs squad, won 23/25 of his tackles (92%) and completed 26/28 of his take ons (93%).
He is a creative player whose ball retention skills have had White Hart Lane purring this term. The way he picks the ball up and floats around the central areas, picking passes as he pleases and carving defences open with ease is enchanting.
He has made 14 key passes this season and hit the target with all three of his strikes, something which only Erik Lamela and Younes Kaboul have matched but they have only had one shot each.
Take a bow, Mousa.
