Tottenham must be jubilant with their victory over Manchester City in the Premier League but now must shift their attention to the Europa League as they look for an alternate route not only for silverware but also to qualify for the Champions League.
The side from London were impressive in their Europa League group stage but will be looking to do better as they face a formidable side in Fiorentina. The Italian side might not be in the top two of their league but they should not be taken as easy opponents.
The problem for Spurs would be that they are travelling to the Italian city of Florence for the game and Mauricio Pochettino might be tempted to rest a few players before another gruelling game in the FA Cup waits.
But should someone mess around with a combination of players and a team that has done so well and won their last seven games in a row? We provide the predicted lineup for Tottenham for the Round of 32 tie.
Michel Vorm
Hugo Lloris could be given a rest and Vorm isn’t the worst goalkeeper in the world. The Dutch keeper might have a point to prove to show just how good he is.
Ben Davies
Davies was expected to do big things for Spurs but that hasn’t transpired for the left-back. The game against Fiorentina could be a chance for him to show what he is capable.
Kevin Wimmer
The defender has slotted in perfectly in the absence of Jan Vertonghen and should start in the Europa League tie.
Toby Alderweireld
The Belgian has been excellent for Tottenham this season and is one of a few players who shouldn’t be dropped in the run up to the end of the season.
Kieran Trippier
Trippier has been excellent every chance he has got to play for Tottenham and this could be another chance for him to shine.
Nabil Bentaleb
The youth team player hasn’t played as many games as expected but certainly he can do a great job in midfield.
Tom Carroll
Pochettino might be tempted to play a few youngsters, which has worked well for him and Carroll could get a slot in midfield for this game.
Mousa Dembele
Probably one of the unsung heroes for Spurs, Dembele seemed set to leave the club last season but has been instrumental for the side’s charge in the Premier League.
Erik Lamela
Lamela produced a superb ball for Eriksen when the Dane scored the second goal for Tottenham and his ingenuity could be crucial for Spurs in this tie.
Nacer Chadli
The Belgian could be an important outlet for the Spurs attack in this game, especially if they do decide to rest the excellent Christian Eriksen.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane cannot be rested, he is extremely vital for Spurs and Pochettino might just play him for 60 minutes to see if they can bag a crucial away goal.
