When it comes to comparing managers there are many aspects that come into play. This season of the English Premier League has seen unexpected performances by underdog teams. Teams that come to mind are Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. They have performed excellently this season and their managers have to be given credit.
Manger of Spurs, Pochettino has led spurs into being one of the main contenders for the premier league title this season and on the other hand Slaven Bilic has helped his team be one to possibly qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. They are without a doubt two of the best managers in the Premier League at the moment. Pochettino’s Spurs currently stands at second place, three positions ahead on the table compared to last season fifth position finish and Bilic’s West Ham have jumped seven positions ahead compared to last season’s twelfth place finish.
Both managers have a positive impact on their respective teams. Pochettino who joined in 2014 leading them to a fifth place finish which was good enough. Bilic who arrived this season has led his team to exceptional away success beating teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City at their home grounds. Based on tactical and strategic managerial style, both managers have a similar taste. They both prefer being dedicated to attack and pushing their team forward. They encourage their team to attack fiercely but without compromising on defence. Pochettino has made some successful signings at Tottenham including middlefielder Dele Alli and defender Eric Dier. Bilic too has some successful signings, especially Dimitri Payet who is West Ham United’s top scorer this season.
Spurs and Hammers managers are on the verge of creating history this season. Spurs will be looking to win the English Premier League after a fifty five year long wait and West Ham are looking at their best finish in the premier league till date. According to statistics, Spurs manager Pochettino has a higher win percentage, however Bilic has a higher average win percentage throughout his managing career compared to Pochettino.
Pochettino has also won the award for manager of the year making him one of the best managers in the English Premier League this season. It is also surprising to see how two new managers of teams have entered the English Premier League, one with little prior experience and the other with no experience in managing an English club. These young managers have taken the league by storm and have managed to compete with the more experienced managers like Guus Hiddink and Arsene Wenger and are managers to look out for. However, when it comes to a choice between Mauricio Pochettino and Slaven Bilic, Pochettino wins with hands down based on his current managerial prowess.
