The next campaign in the Premier League is surely going to be an epic battle. The top managers from all around Europe have arrived in the England and they will be excelling their masterclass in the league. Barclays Premier League, which is considered as one of the toughest competitions in the sport have witnessed many shocking incidents and one of those many was Leicester City’s Premier League triumph.
Now, the foxes will have to defend their title against big names, who will be managed by those stellar names. But during this process, we cannot forget the London club Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilly-Whites were unarguably the best side in England last campaign as they showed a sheer quality in the management as well as in their game.
The side gave some excellent performances throughout the season, but slipped badly in the last couple of games in the League and eventually lost their second place to their arch rivals Arsenal. With the new season coming, the side will have to get themselves up again as they will be battling in the Champions League, hence, they will have to be more concentrated and more précised in their approach.
The stage of the Champions League is surely going to a tough test for the Lilly-Whites as they will be battling against the likes of Real Madrid, Bayer Munich or Juventus. It is fair to say that the current Tottenham side is studded with young guns, who lacks the Champions League experience and therefore, the Argentine manager will have to add some more faces with a more European experience if he tends to proceed to the knockout stages of the competition.
Besides Champions League, they will also be facing a tough time in the Premier League as atleast 4-5 clubs will be challenging for the title. The clubs considered as the big guns like Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have already signed some stellar names into the squad to make other’s life miserable and to avoid humiliation, Pochettino too needs to add depth.
He has recently completed the signing of the Kenyan international Victor Wanyama, which is surely a great addition to the squad, but besides him, he hasn’t been successful in any. Recent reports have suggested that the Lilly-Whites are chasing the 22-year-old AZ’s striker Vincent Janssen, but the club have rejected their bid even after the striker agreed to join them.
Looking at the current situation, the Lilly Whites do need a striker as they only have Harry Kane to count on. The 22-year-old English forward had an excellent season where he scored 28 goals last season, but with Champions League to play for, he will need rest. The midweek fixture will make Tottenham’s schedule a pure congestion and therefore, to avoid excessive fatigue and injuries, Pochettino will have to buy a striker.
It is hard to comment on anything related to their performance for the next season because we all know how unpredictable Premier League is. As we stated earlier, the other managers will be looking to make each other’s life miserable, and we think that Tottenham will remain somewhere in between.
