A blockbuster season awaits in the Premier League with the league getting tougher with each passing season and also because of improvement in the financial status of the mid table clubs. Leicester City proved that money doesn’t always guarantee success and the league is no more a one or two horse race now, all the big clubs stand a chance to reach the summit come next May. Spurs have a manager who’s settled in well and a strong base who performed beyond their expectations last season which can be a good use next term.
Victor Wanyama is a quality addition to the squad and if one or two more players arrive who will be an upgrade, Spurs can go on to have a successful season. Pochettino will be tested in the Champions League as the young Spurs squad needs experience to deal in those big matches in Europe. The defense looks solid for the lilywhites with a solid keeper at the back and now a strong midfield with the arrival of Wanyama. Let’s predict how Spurs’ attack will look come next season:
Left wing: Christian Eriksen
The Dane was missed in the Euros as Denmark failed to qualify for the tournament but had a decent season for Spurs and will look to add consistency to his game. His vision is a necessity in this team and his dead ball skills are going to play a big part next campaign. With Janssen most likely to be Kane’s deputy, his delivery from the flanks can be deadly with Victor Janssen being a towering forward.
Attacking midfield: Dele Alli
Alli had a Euros to forget but will look to bounce back after a stellar performance last campaign. He has achieved this adulation through the hard way after coming from MK Dons and will look to increase his goal tally in the 16-17 season. If Pochettino tries a different system playing three midfielders, Alli can play in the middle as he did for England and will look to continue his brilliant partnership with Harry Kane.
Right wing: Erik Lamela
The Argentinian has settled to life in London now after a poor first season at the club and played a crucial part in Spurs’ revival back into the Champions League. If Spurs do sign a winger then his place might be in danger, but as of now the best possible option for Pochettino ahead of Nacer Chadli and Heung Min Son is the Argentine International.
Striker: Harry Kane
Kane had to prove last season that he was not a one season wonder and gave a befitting reply to his critics in the league. But he had a miserable Euros and was one of England’s worst players and now has to prove his worth yet again. There is no doubt he will challenge for the golden boot again next season and with Champions League at the lane, Kane needs to do well if Spurs want to challenge on all fronts.
