Just like every Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur are also preparing to start their pre-season tour and the Lilly-Whites will be travelling to Australia and the very first hurdle for Pochettino’s men will be Melbourne Victory FC, which will be followed by a game against Juventus and Atletco Madrid and the last game will be played against the Italian giants Inter Milan at Ullevaal Stadion, Norway.
The side has kicked off their domestic friendlies in style as they defeated Nottingham Forest by 3 goals to nil, but failed to replicate the result against Fulham and lost the game by one goal to nil. Now, with big games coming up, the Argentine manager will be looking to give some positive results ahead of the new season.
So far, the gaffer has signed two players, namely, Victor Wanyama from Southampton and Vincent Janssen from AZ and it is understood that the manager will be looking to add more width to the squad. Not many players have been linked with the squad recently, but according to the recent reports from Sky Sports, the Lilly-Whites are now currently monitoring the situation of the 21-year-old Marseille winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.
The same source also mentioned that the player was spotted by the scouts of Tottenham, while they were monitoring the position of Michy Batshuayi, who recently joined the fellow English side Chelsea. The 21-year-old French winger is an unknown figure in the industry so far, but he did make his name in the French league last year as he scored 10 goals and assisted 5 times in his 38 appearances in all competition.
Now, it is totally understood that if Pochettino brings N’Koudou to the White Hart Lane, then the future of their current youngster Clinton Mua N’Jie will come in immense doubt. Furthermore, if the reports are to be believed, then the French side Marseille are currently looking to secure the deal for N’Koudou to Spurs only if the Lilly-Whites agrees to offer N’Jie in the deal.
Well, to be perfectly honest, the deal does make sense because let’s face it, the arrival of N’Koudou to the White Hart Lane will only hamper the playing time of N’Jie. Thanks to the renaissance of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, the 22-year-old only made 12 goalless appearances last season, but now with Champions League to play for, the Argentine manager will be looking to add some more faces and looking at N’Koudou’s experience over N’Jie, the deal seems to be the best option for all the parties.
There is no doubt about the abilities of N’Jie; the attacker is one of the quickest players in the league, but he might only get proper game time at Marseille as he has fallen down in the pecking order at the North London club.
As stated earlier, N’Koudou has a great experience of playing at the top level, and even though he needs some polishing, he could become a deadly player under Pochettino given his past record of handling the young talents in the squad.
Well, to be perfectly honest, this is a fair and square deal for all the parties and through this, N’Jie would finally end his White Hart Lane’s misery.
