Tottenham Hotspur are currently looking to secure the services of their star players as to compete with the highest level in the next campaign. The Lilly-Whites had a terrific season last term, but somehow they finished third, but still, they will be playing the big Champions League football.
After a great season, it was reported that many top players from the side have been targeted by European giants, hence, to prevent any such situation, the board has decided to offer new and improved deals for the players. Recently, their 23-year-old centre-half Kevin Wimmer has signed a new contract and according to the reports, the club are preparing themselves to offer Eric Dier and Danny Rose a new deal.
There is no doubt that these two players were the key figure in Spurs’ little triumph last campaign and even in the coming season, these players are going to play an important role for their Argentine manager. Now, according to the reports, the Lilly-Whites recently offered their 24-year-old Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen a new deal, but the midfielder has rejected the offer and is keen on agreeing new terms only if the side offers him more salary.
Eriksen, who joined from Ajax for about £11million in the summer of 2013, earns about £30,000 weekly. It was earlier reported that the Italian giants Juventus were targeting the Danish professional, but eventually, they went for Miralem Pjanic. The 24-year-old, who has scored 30 goals in three seasons with the club, is unarguably one of the finest players for the team.
Even during his time with the Dutch side Ajax, the game revolved around him all the time, and if the Dan refused to sign a contract with the Lilly Whites, the team might face the risk of losing him in the long run. It is safe to say that Eriksen is not the most physical player in the team, but his vision and positioning is the one, which can haunt the opposition.
He isn’t the most prolific goal scorer either, but he has the sense that can rip the oppositions’ defence apart with a single pass. The 24-year-old is surely a joy to watch and what makes him more amazing is his ability to drive the team single handedly. As stated earlier, he isn’t the most prolific goal scorer in the league, but he did deliver 13 assists last season and could easily replicate the same form in the upcoming campaign.
In a young and dynamic Tottenham squad, the Dan’s role is far from uncertain, hence, the manager should do whatever he can to hold the player in the squad, because let’s face it, he was one of the most consistent performers for the side. The 24-year-old has his entire future ahead of him and looking at his current form, it is safe to say that he could easily become one of the Tottenham’s greatest. The three-time Eredivisie winner with Ajax, Eriksen is a key personnel for the team not just in the next campaign, but also for a long time, hence, losing him might cost a fortune to Tottenham.
