Tottenham do have one of the best youth academies in the Premier League and they are bringing in a number of players into the first team. The greatest success over the years has to go to Harry Kane but another Harry could be the one to keep an eye out for this season.
Harry Winks might only be 20-years at the moment but he does have a bright future and he made his first appearance for the Premier League side in the Europa League last season. Winks played against FK Partizan in the European competition but he had to wait till the current season before he got his Premier League debut.
This came against Liverpool in an entertaining 1-1 draw and big things are expected from the English midfielder. Winks even signed a new contract at the start of the 2015-2016 season to stay at the club till 2018.
The England U20 international even played a few pre-season games for Tottenham and should feature in a few more games before the end of the season. The 20-year-old plays mostly in central midfield and is known to be comfortable with the ball at his feet.
He likes to keep things simple but loves playing a perfect pass to set up an attack. Winks isn’t someone who will tackle a lot but he can work great in tandem with a good defensive midfield. The English midfielder also has a history of moving into the final third of play and joining the attack. He can also score goals from midfield regularly, and that could be important for him and the team in the coming years.
Tottenham might have a lot of options in the heart of midfield with Moussa Sissoko also joining the club but Winks will have his chances to impress Mauricio Pochettino and the fans in the upcoming season.
The London club have a lot of games in the various cup competitions and the Premier League and Winks should get to play a subs role in a number of games. While he should get the chance to start in a few games as well, he needs to understand that chances will have to be taken as soon as he gets them.
The likes of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason have not been able to hold a place down in the Tottenham team and they too were midfielders. Winks, however, should be confident of performing in the same way as his namesake Harry Kane this season and nail a place in the team by the end of the season.
