The new season has kicked off and the transfer window has also been concluded, hence, it is now the time to enter the showdown and get down to real business. Almost every Premier League club has got what they wanted and the level of competition in the league has reached its limit. And to bring it more to the tally, the managers like Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola and others have added more flavour to it.

Talking particularly, the Lilly-Whites have had a pretty dull start to their new season as they opened it up with a 1-1 draw against the Goodison Park outfit Everton, and then somehow managed to grab the winner against Crystal Palace, then again played a 1-1 draw against the red half of the Merseyside, Liverpool.

A few names have started in a stylish fashion, yet there are others, who have had a dull start, namely, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. Erik Lamela has been a starlet for the side, but the rest attacking members have had disappointing outings. The team needs to back it up after a recent defeat to AS Monaco in the Champions League as Sunderland are awaiting a visit to the White Hart Lane.

In terms of transfers, the Argentine has got what he wished and the pack is now looking all set, but besides all of it, the manager has hinted that he might give the young academy graduate their chance to shine at the Lane. He used a couple of defensive names, namely, Dominic Ball, 20, and Cameron Carter-Vickers, 18, and the pair looked enough, but what amazed the spectators was the performance of their 17-year-old attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards.

The manager included the 17-year-old in his trip to Australia and was given his chance to shone, and the player did exactly what was expected. He was given a 30-minute cameo appearance against the Italian giants Juventus and sparkled brightly. Furthermore, the manager appreciated the performance and said:

“I’m happy with all the young players. They behaved fantastically and the performance too. It’s fair to pay attention to Marcus Edwards because he’s a very talented player. We need to be careful with all the young players. He’s only 17 years old — we need to care for him in a very good way.”

Marcus Edwards

The 17-year-old is considered as one of the brightest players in the English football and has also represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels. He scored seven goals in 19 games for Tottenham’s Under-18 team last season. Edwards, who has been at Tottenham since the age of eight, signed his first professional contract at Tottenham Hotspur last month. The club knew that the London-born Marcus is a great prospect for the sides and there were reports that some big clubs were already looking to sign him up, hence, the Lilly-Whites took the step early.

Talking about his playing style, many have compared him to the Argentine star, Lionel Messi and the reason being; his short structure. Furthermore, just like the Barcelona man, the 17-year-old is known for his wonderful close control and excellent dribbling skills. Maybe not now, but the Englishman is surely a star for the future.

Furthermore, he naturally is a left-footed player, but he is at home with his right as well. His technical abilities allow him to create spaces for the teammates and that is how the 17-year-old manages to create the goal scoring chances. The player loves to tickle his opponents with his calm and composed activities and besides that, he has also been rightly praised for his excellent passing skills.

The player has his complete life ahead of him and judging him at the age of 17 may not be the best thing. He, undoubtedly, is a great prospect in the sport and does have a bright future ahead of him and we are pretty sure that Pochettino is aware of this fact as well. We wish all the very best to this young talent for his future endeavours.
