Pochettino Should Start These 3 Players For Every Game – Agreed?

After a frustrating end to an excellent last season, there was a high pressure on Pochettino to continue the progress this season with new players brought in the summer. The summer transfer window proved to be pretty successful for the Argentine, even though no big name signing arrived at White Hart Lane. In Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama, the manager has brought in two top quality players who will definitely provide the cover that the Spurs team missed last season. Although pundits have said that Tottenham’s performance level has dropped slightly this season, the fact that Tottenham are still unbeaten in the league shows the quality the team carries and how well they could do, if everyone contributes to the team success.

Last season it was the performance of Harry Kane and Dele Alli that lifted the team into the top four. This year along with Harry Kane, we feel Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen will be crucial to how Tottenham fare this season. The trio are the backbone of this squad and if fit, deserve the starting place.

Hugo Lloris

The Frenchman led his national team to the summer European Championship and is a rock between the sticks at White Hart Lane. Michel Vorm is a quality cover to have for Lloris but is no way near as solid as the Frenchman. Lloris has bailed Tottenham numerous times before with his excellent saves and is a very crucial player for the manager. Although some reports have surfaced regarding Lloris moving away from North London but the 29-year-old looks settled at Tottenham right now.

Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen joined Spurs in 2012 after being heavily linked with throughout the previous season. Since his arrival, the Belgian has taken the leadership role at the back and is currently Tottenham number one centre-back. The 29-year-old is on the verge of signing a contract extension, which is very good news for the club, given how important he was in making Tottenham the meanest defence in the league last season.

Harry Kane

Kane vs Jagielka

The England international was under huge scrutiny last summer after he won the Golden Boot award in 2014-215 season. However, Kane came back and delivered the goods again last season, where he finished as the club’s leading goalscorer, proving to everyone that he was no one season wonder. Although he has started off slowly this time around, it is only a matter of time before the English forward gets going in front of the goal. Janssen has been brought in to cover for the 23-year-old but it is unlikely that he displace Kane from the starting XI this season.
