Tottenham have not missed Harry Kane much in the last couple of games. The worst was feared for the club’s excellent start to the campaign when it was learnt that Kane would miss a significant chunk of action with an ankle injury. However, Spurs have managed to keep their momentum even with new signing Vincent Janssen on board. The emergence of Heung-Min Son has certainly helped, but even Mauricio Pochettino would have been surprised at how the team has been able to deal without Kane. A good news for the club ahead of the North London derby is that Kane could be back much earlier than schedule, reports the Sun.
A recent scan for the striker has shown incredible progress and he could be back in the team as early as next month. Arsenal will be hosting Spurs at the Emirates stadium on November 6. Even though the recent victory over Manchester City gives them a lot of confidence when it comes to taking on the top opposition, the North London derby is always difficult irrespective of form. Pochettino will want to have his best team out on the pitch. Kane was unlucky to suffer this injury just as he was starting to find some form.
The England international has proven to be a slow starter, but there is little the opposition can do when he is on fire. Of course, bringing him back straight into a game of this magnitude will not be ideal. Pochettino will be hoping that Kane makes his comeback at least a couple of games before the North London derby.
Janssen continues to struggle and he is yet to open his account for his new club. Son, on the other hand, has managed to put behind the transfer rumours linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund. He has scored four goals in four games, while his best performance till date came in the win over City. Crucially, the victory against City helped Spurs move into the second spot with 17 points – only one behind table leaders City. It is too early in the campaign to look at the table, but even then, one cannot help the fact that Spurs are becoming a team who should be considered seriously for the title.
Since the loss against Monaco in the Champions League, Tottenham have gone on to win the last five games. It is vital that they maintain this momentum going into the next couple of weeks. Tough competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, and Leicester City await the team in three different competitions. Pochettino will remind his players that trophies are not won at this stage, but they certainly can be lost during this period.
