After the draw against Bournemouth, it seemed that Tottenham would be made to pay in the Premier League but apart from Liverpool winning, it has not been the worst weekend for the London club.
Arsenal, their great rivals, also ended up drawing their game during the weekend and the result for Spurs was still better since the Lilywhites played away from home. Truth be told, Mauricio Pochettino’s men should have easily defeated Bournemouth but picking up a point against Eddie Howe’s side is not the worst result in the world.
We must also remember that Tottenham came back from a Champions League tie in midweek and are still without Harry Kane. The London club though are not on top of the league and trail leaders Manchester City by just one point.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be even pleased seeing Manchester City draw their home game this weekend as well. Pep Guardiola’s side could not defeat a stubborn Southampton side and were lucky to come out with a point.
Problems aplenty for Guardiola
This was the fifth game in succession that the Spaniard has not won and this is his worst result in his management career. That just goes to show how hard the Premier League is, of course, the match against Barcelona in midweek did have a say in the performance of the Manchester club but no one would have expected City to struggle this much.
The issues for Guardiola and his team started when they were comprehensively defeated by Tottenham a few weeks ago and things have not gone well for the side. The same can be said about Tottenham, as they are stuttering.
The London club have drawn their last two Premier League games and that was against West Brom and Bournemouth. These are the games that Tottenham have to win if they are to pick up the Premier League title.
The next Premier League game would be against Leicester City and the Premier League champions have been hit and miss this season but they still are tough opposition and it would not be a surprise if they do perform well at White Hart Lane.
Pochettino has to be wary of Leicester but Spurs should be favourites for the tie.
