Tottenham secured a dramatic late 3-2 win over West Ham in order to end a sequence of four games without a win in the Premier League. Tottenham fans were sent into ecstasy after a stunning turnaround that saw the club score two goals in the last 10 minutes. Spurs had to come back twice in the game. There was even more joy for the supporters, as one of the three goals scored by Tottenham came from the player who came through the ranks.
Harry Winks is fast emerging as one of the next big things at White Hart Lane. His progress has been so great that the club are even considering offers for Tom Carroll, who was once regarded as the next big thing to come from the club’s academy. Winks is only 20 but he managed to provide an incredible performance in the centre of the park against West Ham. The youngster scored the goal that sparked a comeback from Spurs in the second half.
Tottenham fans, though, have been incensed at Match of the Day seemingly avoiding the exploits of the 20-year-old. The BBC’s post-match analysis program is one of the highly rated with pundits like Alan Shearer providing their expert opinion on the weekend’s games. However, there was no mention of Winks or his goal. Supporters reacted on Twitter quite bemused with the events unfolding on BBC.
Imagine Pogba played like winks did today, would have a documentary,Winks doesn’t even get a mention on MOTD

I love #MOTD but disappointed that @GaryLineker @alanshearer and @IanWright did not make more of Winks’ goal on his 1st start. Lovely moment

Quite frankly disgraced. Just watched @BBCMOTD and they didn’t once mention the greatest midfielder in the league Harry Winks. #motd #coys

Crazy that there was no mention of harry winks on motd. If he played for United it would be a different story

Even though Winks was one of the scorers, his goal was probably overshadowed by the fact that Spurs had managed to achieve their first win in more than a month; Harry Kane had managed to score twice in the last 10 minutes; the match was turned completely turned on its head in the final minutes since Spurs were trailing 2-1 going into the 80th minute and ended up winning the game 3-2.
One of the limiting factors for BBC would be the air time. The show had to cover nine league matches on Saturday, as Middlesbrough vs Chelsea was the only game on Sunday. However, it may not be such a big excuse considering that only 20 goals were scored on Saturday. The games featuring Spurs and Sunderland turned out to be the high scorers with more than three goals in total.
Harry Winks maybe the latest story at the club, but Harry Kane continues to hit new heights. Immediately upon returning from an eight-week injury layoff, the England international scored in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal. He has followed up with two more goals against West Ham. It is no surprise that the seven-match winless run in all competitions for Tottenham coincided with the absence of the 23-year-old.
The club takes on Chelsea in their next league encounter.
