Hull 3-3 Crystal Palace - Wilfried Zaha

Tottenham are considering the possibility of coming in with a £25 million offer for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, as the London outfit are becoming increasingly concerned about the winger’s future – according to the reports from Squawka. Zaha has been one of the best players for Crystal Palace this season, but the club flirting with relegation throughout the campaign has not helped remain attractive in the eyes of Zaha. His Manchester United move may not have worked out as expected, but his form with Crystal Palace this season has shown that the talent within the 24-year-old is yet to be tapped.

Spurs came in with a £21 million offer for the player in the summer, but Crystal Palace rejected the deal. It is reported that Zaha came extremely close to joining the North London outfit as he even held a phone conversation with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer. Now, though, the club’s incredible defensive issues have seen them lose three out of the last five games. Crystal Palace are just three points ahead of the relegation zone. Incredibly, Crystal Palace have scored more goals than Spurs, but they have been let down by weak defending which has seen them conceding 31 goals in 16 league games.

Manager Alan Pardew recently received a vote of confidence from the club and he is expected to be back quite heavily in the January transfer window. However, the club are expected to focus more on defensive signings, as Pardew prepares for a complete overhaul of the back four. The sale of Zaha could also bring some much-needed funds for this overhaul.

Spurs are just three points behind the top four, but scoring goals have been a major problem for the club. Recognising this aspect, the club are looking for a direct player who would be able to take on the opposition and possibly score goals. Zaha fits perfectly into the requirements.

Zaha has not only scored three league goals this season, but he has also provided six assists for his teammates in the 16 matches so far. The winger that would also fit in nicely with the club’s requirements for signing a player, who would not lose value with time. At just 24 years of age, Zaha is just entering into the peak of his career and will have plenty of reserve value left even if Spurs decide to sell him after five years.

The 24-year-old is rumoured to be contemplating the possibility of switching to Ivory Coast in terms of the national team allegiance, which is likely to see him depart to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
