Calvin Tshilumba in action for France youth

Mauricio Pochettino certainly believes in developing young players and there are reports suggesting that Tottenham have made a bid for Stade Lavallois striker Calvin Tshilumba.

The 17-year-old striker certainly hasn’t played a lot of first-team games and only made his debut for the French club in last week’s defeat at the hands of Avranches in the Coupe de France.

The reports from The Sun suggest that Tshilumba is a target for many top clubs in Europe and Tottenham are putting up a great proposal to lure the youngster over to England. The Premier League club certainly will have better infrastructure compared to the French side and that could be enough to turn the head of the youngster.

While Tshilumba will not be joining the first team, the young striker would join the reserves or even the developmental side as his growth continues at the club.

One of the brightest young French players

Tshilumba might not be playing for one of the top sides in France but he still is considered a great prospect of the future. The 17-year-old also is a youth international for France and has two U17 caps and 14 caps at the U16 level.

The youngster will have a lot of work to do if he is to feature in the Tottenham side in the future but one thing is guaranteed, his chance to perform for Pochettino. The Argentine manager has a history of providing chances to youngsters and it will be no different should Tshilumba move to London.

Tottenham do have to be a little careful when it comes to making purchases as a number of transfers to the club have not been that great but Tshilumba should not be an extremely expensive player for the side.

Pochettino only has Vincent Janssen and Harry Kane as the senior strikers and would be looking to get more quality in that aspect of his team. Janssen has failed to star so far and the Dutchman will surely be feeling the pressure of not scoring freely.

The manager of the club would want to get a number of players through the academy and Tshilumba could be that player should he get the right kind of training and coaching at Tottenham. The young Frenchman could turn out to be the next Harry Kane and that would certainly be something but it is a long way to go before the deal is closed and Tshilumba is playing for Spurs.
