Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen has rebuffed a loan move to Turkish big boys Galatasaray. The 22-year-old’s agent Patrick van Diermen confirmed his client has opted to sink in and fight for a spot at the north London club.

“He decided to turn down all interest,” the representative shared with Omroep Brabant.

Galatasaray came with an offer but Vincent will stay with Tottenham Hotspur. He decided to turn down Galatasaray.

“Vincent chose Tottenham Hotspur in the summer fully aware of what his chances would be to play. He signed a long-term contract with a good club with fantastic facilities and a good coach.

“Before he got injured he got playing time every week. He is enjoying his time and wants to fight for his chance.”

The towering striker joined Spurs on a four-year contract for a £17 million fee in the summer after taking the Eredivisie league by storm last season. He racked up 27 goals out of 34 appearances, thus he was rather seen as a bargain, considering his tender age too. He even surged into the Holland squad and fans were expecting him to push Harry Kane for the striker slot.

However, he has failed to hit the ground running and is nearing to be the definition of a flop as a portion of fans are already likening him to former goal-shy forward Roberto Soldado. Janssen has put in a number of solid performances but has yet to score from open play. Three successful spot kicks have helped his goal account to not look so bad.

The Dutchman was thrown onto the pitch sooner than expected when Kane missed 8 weeks with an ankle injury in October and November. With Janssen struggling to spearhead the attacking line, questions were raised about Tottenham’s title challenge credibility. Amped with quality midfielders, chances were flooding in but he could not replicate his AZ Alkmaar form.

Once Kane returned from injury, he immediately proved that he was the only missing piece to their goal drought. The England international has completely cemented the solo striker spot with 13 goals and 2 assists to his name this campaign. On the other hand, if Kane picks up an injury yet again, besides Janssen, options are rather limited as a direct swap.

His fighting spirit of battling for a place is admirable but reality even hurts as he was left out of the squad in the previous two league matches, further making his future to remain without complete clarity. Besides that, he isn’t one of those versatile forwards who could play across the attacking trident thus he no longer looks like a trump card for Mauricio Pochettino. But the manager did express not long ago that Janssen requires some time to adapt to England’s top flight. Perhaps, cup competitions are on cards for him to earn his manager’s trust.

Next up, Spurs will face a tricky test against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium today. The home side were trashed 4-0 by the hands of Everton and will be looking to bounce back against the Lilywhites. A fiery encounter is expected as nothing but three points will be a huge disappointed in their title quests.
