In recent times, Tottenham Hotspur have been bathed in the light of media due to their prodigious midfielder Dele Alli. Latest reports have claimed that Real Madrid are ready to jostle away Paris Saint-Germain to secure the services of the England international, who could cost approximately £50 million, in the summer.
According to Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express, Alli peaks the transfer targets chart at the Spanish club: “They are planning a major clear-out at the end of the season and made it clear that they will do whatever it takes to land Alli.”
With the Spurs faithful baying for blood over previous deals that took Gareth Bale and Luka Modric to the Spanish capital, Madrid would first need to mend fences with the north London club. Apart from peace-making, the biggest hurdle is seeing off interest from PSG. Similar to the situation at Los Blancos, the club’s director of football, Patrick Kluivert, has reportedly made the Spurs star top of his wish-list and would go over the hills to secure a deal.
The Times report that the former Barcelona legend believes there are ample of marketing benefits from signing the 20-year-old: “It is thought that Kluivert is ‘convinced’ the pair would ‘bring significant commercial advantages to PSG.'” Apart from Alli, Liverpool attacker Adam Lallana is closely monitored by the French outfit too.
With two European giants, who are also known for their money monopoly in transfer windows going against each other to sign Alli, another jaw-dropping fee could be on cards and Spurs might just loosen their grip over their midfielder.
Alli has been instrumental this campaign, fairly on par with his current demand. His deadly attacking prowess and willingness to drop deep whenever the opponents have possession are widely hailed. The former quality has been showcased with 11 goals so far this term.
Besides the former MK Dons starlet, another player who is a subject of sizeable bids is left-back Danny Rose. Manchester City are vying to fortify their porous backline with the 26-year-old. According to Goal’s Sam Lee, Pep Guardiola did show interest in him and Kyle Walker last season. However, the wingbacks have already penned new 5-year deals to remain at White Hart Lane but it could not fend off the interest from the Manchester club.
The Sun reported earlier in January that City might revisit the idea of securing the duo, who can do just as much in attack as they can do in defence. A fee around £60 million for Rose and Walker is expected.
Rose’s eagerness to bombard forward without eclipsing his defensive duties has surely got Guardiola star-struck. He could easily oust Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov for the first team spot. He might play second fiddle to Alli but his importance to Tottenham is set in stone.
Thankfully, the off pitch talks have not blunted the spirit of the Lilywhites as they are still combating for the Premier League crown. Both Rose and Alli might be rested against Wycombe in the FA Cup Fourth Round but will feature in their next league outing at the Stadium of Light.
