Dele Alli’s meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur isn’t going unnoticed and the English midfielder seems to be on the radar for a number of top clubs in the world. While Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Alli, another Premier League side is plotting to move for the MK Dons star.
Manchester City might not be flying as high as many would have expected this season but Pep Guardiola is ready to make wholesale changes to an ageing side. The Sunday Express reports that the Manchester club is willing to spend more than £89 million spent by their rivals Manchester United to sign Paul Pogba.
Pep is reportedly (The Sun) set to make changes and bring in 11 first-team players and will have a transfer kitty of close to £200 million to spend in the summer.
There are a number of players that seem to be getting on at City and it is no surprise that Pep wants to bring in youthful exuberance to the side. He had already brought in the likes of Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan and Alli could fit into any team in the world.
The Englishman picked up the player of the month award in January and has been in fine fettle once again for Spurs. Alli might have been a little poor in the recent game against Liverpool but his 11 Premier League goals this season certainly are a great return for a player that is still developing under Mauricio Pochettino.
The manager of the club would be wary of not wanting to lose another one of their rising stars, something they had done when they lose Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and fans will expect the board to fight hard and keep hold of Alli.
Financially Tottenham might not want to sell but the wage structure could be an issue with Alli reputedly earning £55,000 a week at White Hart Lane. The Englishman had also rejected a mammoth £800,000-a-week offer to join the Chinese Super League.
There will be a number of other clubs looking to sign the youngster up and it will come as no surprise if he is linked with a move away from White Hart Lane throughout the summer. For now, he is contracted to be a Tottenham player till 2022 and Pochettino will play hardball to ensure he gets to keep one of the rising stars of football at the Lane for a few more years at least.
