Tottenham’s summer signing Moussa Sissoko could be on his way out of White Hart Lane, according to Calciomercato (h/t talkSport). The midfielder, who has struggled for form this season, is reportedly being monitored by Italian giants AC Milan.
The France international moved to Tottenham last summer, in a £30m deal from Newcastle United and has set a perfect example of what can be called as a ‘panic buy’. He arrived at the North London club on deadline day of the transfer window and has not found his feet at his new club. There has been growing speculation that Sissoko could be sold in the summer and Milan have been alerted by this.
Sissoko had nightmare performances this season for Spurs, notably against Wycombe in FA cup and Gent in the Europa League. Fans have repeatedly called for his head and have been voicing out their opinion on the player.
He was good for France in Euro 2016. It would be hard to believe the previous statement if anyone who has watched Sissoko play for Tottenham. Such has been his performances for the club.
He has made a total of 16 appearances for the Lilywhites this season of which 6 of them have come as starts. He has been subbed off 5 times and hasn’t really convinced Pochettino.
Sissoko has looked out of sorts and he can look to kick-start his career elsewhere. AC Milan might be a good option. They are 7th in the table with 41 points, 4 points behind Inter and Sampdoria. Though they were knocked out of Coppa Italia by Juventus, they are looking good to finish 4th or 5th and try for Europa League qualification.
Though he has had a bad season with Tottenham, the fact is that he is talented and is a valuable player to have in the team. He probably needs to be used more effectively than he actually is used right now and slotting him in central midfield might be a good option. He is a player who likes to play his teammates into areas and can play those through balls between the lines. He is a good dribbler and would fit in well in centre of the park.
Sissoko and Milan would benefit each other if the move does happen and since his price is expected to fall down steeply, he would be a gamble worth taking.
