The Wilfried Zaha to Tottenham rumours just don’t seem to die down and now it is time for the Sun to report that Mauricio Pochettino will return with a big money bid for the Ivory Coast international.
Zaha was linked with a move to Spurs last season too but didn’t make the switch across but this season, he has done better for Crystal Palace, even though the side is flirting with relegation under Sam Allardyce.
The Sun also reports that Tottenham will return to Palace to sign Zaha with a bid of £20m in the summer as Pochettino looks to add quality to his attacking department. Spurs have struggled for quality attackers apart from their starting XI and that has seen them get knocked out of the Champions League and recently even lost in the Europa League game against Gent.
Zaha has scored four goals and provided six assists in the Premier League and has been one of the better players for the Palace side that could really be relegated this season.
That would open the door for Palace to sell their player as it would be tough to keep hold of Zaha next season. Sam Allardyce would not want to let go of his star player but keeping hold of Premier League players is tough and Spurs might face competition for the signing of Zaha too.
The former England international certainly can add pace to the wings, but he isn’t the best winger out there. Tottenham have played with Moussa Sissoko out wide this season and the Frenchman hasn’t been able to put in quality performances and could be looking at more time on the bench.
Any time the likes of Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli are missing for the Tottenham side, they don’t have enough quality in their side to replace their attacking threat. Zaha is being seen as the player that can make the difference for Tottenham but we all know what happened when he tried to make it big at a top club.
The 24-year-old did struggle after his big money move to Manchester United and had to return to Crystal Palace where he has regained some of his confidence, he too would be wary of making the move to a side that might not be right for him.
Daniel Levy has to be right with this transfer as a number of players that have come to the club in the past two seasons have not been able to play well and with that threat looming on Zaha as well, this could be a transfer that many fans would not want to take place.
