Tottenham Could Lose Two Key First Team Players, If Manchester City’s Proposed £125 Million Deal Is Completed

Dele Alli and Danny Rose of Tottenham

danny_rose_dele_alliTottenham’s great season so far in the Premier League, has led to a number of key players being linked with a move away from the White Hart Lane. While Harry Kane has been a target for both Real Madrid and Manchester United according to the tabloids, another pair of Spurs stars are being looked upon by Manchester City.

According to latest reports, Dele Alli and Danny Rose are being monitored by Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. The Manchester Evening News reports that the former Barcelona manager is keen on bringing in a number of English talents at the club and could target Jack Wilshere, Kyle Walker and even Jordan Pickford of Sunderland. The reports come just a day after the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager praised the English talent at Tottenham.

“I would like English players because they know the league and that is much better,” Guardiola said. “I am really impressed with how many good English players your country has. Tottenham players, the English players are all amazing, City, United, Chelsea players as well.

“I would like to have more English players. But, you have to believe me, they are so expensive. I would like to play with them. When I was Barcelona I had a lot of players (from Spain) at Bayern Munich, I had a lot of players [from German]. But sometimes it is not possible. The market is the market.”

City dropped points against Stoke at the Etihad on Wednesday night, leaving them a place behind second-placed Tottenham in the league standings. There is a lack of youthful exuberance in the side. Rose seems to be an important target for the side as the likes of Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov aren’t getting any younger and could be on their way out of the club.

Rose would not be a cheap signing for Guardiola as it is expected that the Manchester club would have to stump out at least £40 million for one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

Alli would be another tough nut to crack for Guardiola and we all know how difficult it is to negotiate with Daniel Levy. The two players are stalwarts in the current Spurs side and it would be ludicrous for the team to let them go.

The tabloids also claim that Manchester City are willing to pay close to £125 million (£125.3m to be exact) for the pair but if Tottenham are to grow as a club they cannot let go of their best players. Gareth Bale, Dimitar Berbatov and Luka Modric all left the club for greener pastures but that was a different time in Tottenham’s tale.

Spurs are now genuinely one of the best clubs in the country and are set for another season in the Champions League while City still need a lot of rebuilding under Guardiola. Alli and Rose don’t seem to be going anywhere at the moment and it would be lunacy should Spurs part company with either of them in the upcoming transfer window.
