Remember the name Federico Fazio? The man who joined Tottenham in the summer of 2014 and went on to make 32 appearances for the club?
Well Twitter went crazy after Fazio’s performance for his current team, AS Roma. The defender scored a goal and set one up as well. Though Roma lost the game 4-2 at Lyon, his performance was a noteworthy one and the Twitterati did not fail to take note of it.
Fazio played for Tottenham in the 2014/15 season, before moving to Sevilla on loan for the 2015/16 season, where he won the Europa League trophy.
The four goals conceded against Lyon was a knock against Fazio’s performance, but he has been doing well this season for Roma and appears settled at the club. Barcelona’s magical comeback against PSG this week will help give Roma belief they can overturn their deficit, especially with two away goals in the bag, thanks to Fazio.
Once again he has gone deeper in the Europa League than Tottenham did, with the North London side eliminated in the last round by Gent. Fazio won eight aerial duels and made 13 clearances, but Roma were outdone by the excellent Alexandre Lacazette, who scored one and created another.
The centre-back’s performances continue to bemuse Tottenham fans and here is how Twitter reacted to Fazio’s performance against Lyon.
Fazio made it further than Spurs in Europa….let that sink in

Fazio has managed more goal contributions in 13 minutes of EL knockout stages than any Spurs player in the whole competition. Levels.

Though Fazio was not this good while playing for Spurs, it is glad to see that his career has taken an upward curve and looks set to achieve bigger things in his career.
Maybe Tottenham gave him the necessary ingredients!
