Tottenham battled hard against Southampton as they looked to keep hold of their second place standing in the Premier League behind Chelsea. The home side were without Harry Kane but came out with a 2-1 win over Claude Puel’s men.
Spurs started brightly as Christian Eriksen and then Dele Alli scored to give them a 2-0 lead at half-time. Southampton also lost out their star striker Manolo Gabbiadini and it was James Ward-Prowse who got the goal for the Saints as they put some pressure on the London side.
The win kept Tottenham 10 points behind Chelsea and also kept up their great home form of late. While it wasn’t a vintage performance by the side, they did show that even without Harry Kane the club can pull out wins and Twitter was alight with some great updates from the game.
I’ll only believe we’ll finish above Arsenal when we’re in the 38th game & we’re at least four points above them. Tottenham have damaged me.
