“I couldn’t resist’ – Victor Wanyama On His Summer Transfer

published :

Tottenham might be an irresistible force when it comes to their attack but that has been built on a great foundation at the back. The defence has been exceptional once again under Mauricio Pochettino and the midfield too has been one of the best in the Premier League this season.

One star from the centre of the park, Victor Wanyama, has easily been the best transfer into the club. The former Southampton midfielder has been a rock in the heart of the team and has even chipped in with a couple of goals in the Premier League.

The Kenyan was linked with a number of clubs in the summer but he has spoken out about why he joined Tottenham and a lot of credit has to be given to the manager for all the good work done so far.

“I’d played against Spurs a few times and they were a hard team to beat,” Wanyama told the official site of Tottenham.

“The manager started improving the team and I felt this was a club going somewhere.

“I looked at where the club was heading and with the manager, I knew I couldn’t go wrong.

“I know he builds for the future and wants to fight for everything.

“I couldn’t resist that.”

“I’ve learned a lot of things through him and I don’t just see him as a manager but as a father figure.”

Wanyama had played under Pochettino at Southampton and it was no surprise that he would want to get back with his manager again.

Tottenham certainly have signed a gem of a player in Wanyama and even though they will find it hard to win the Premier League, they once again, have a great base to work on next season.

The 25-year-old would provide a lot of cover for the defence again and the main aim for the side would be to build upon this season and do well in the Champions League as well.

Tottenham are primed to finish as runners-up this season in the Premier League, which would be a better finish from last season. Spurs would also be expecting better performances when they start playing at Wembley in the next campaign and Wanyama would certainly be relishing that prospect under Pochettino as the team goes from strength to strength.
