Mauricio Pochettino has offered the latest team news ahead of Tottenham’s league encounter against Burnley at the Turf Moor. Speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference, Pochettino gave the team news and injury updates. He revealed details about Vincent Janssen, Danny Rose, Harry Kane, and Erik Lamela.

Vincent Janssen

The boss revealed that the Dutchman has a chest infection and he will be assessed on a daily basis before a judgment is made on his availability for this weekend.

Danny Rose

The Spurs boss has confirmed that Danny Rose is due to be assessed this week as the full-back looks set to make his return from a knee ligament injury that has kept him out since the 0-0 draw with Sunderland on January 31st.

Rose has made steady progress in his recovery and the defender will be hoping to return in time for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea next month. Having someone like Danny Rose return for a game of such magnitude will be a massive boost for Tottenham.

Harry Kane

The manager also revealed positive news on Harry Kane as the striker seems to be recovering well from his ankle ligament injury. It looks like he has started light work on the training pitch this week. Kane has been out since suffering the injury to his ankle during the 6-0 FA Cup win over Millwall. The 24-goal striker is well on course to return in April.

Erik Lamela

Another update from Pochettino was about Argentine star Erik Lamela. He has been ruled out for the rest of the season after failing to overcome a troublesome hip injury that has kept him out since the end of October. It was told that Lamela will undergo a surgery on Saturday, which will result in him returning to action next season.

The Scenario

Tottenham head into the weekend action, sitting 2nd in the Premier League table with fifth-placed Man Utd 7 points behind them with a game in hand. Spurs will look to cement their place in the top four with a positive result at Turf Moor.

However, it will not be an easy game as Burnley have lost only thrice at home this season and have managed to collect 29 points from 14 games. The Clarets have surprised everyone this season and have made sure that they did not become pushovers in the Premier League. It is a commendable achievement from them so far and they will be determined to not give Tottenham some easy points to score.
