Pochettino’s Reply To Barcelona Rumours Would Make Tottenham Fans Fall In Love With Him

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has become one of the most wanted managers in the world of football. The former Southampton manager has turned Tottenham into a title contender and a top four finish seems to be a guarantee this season as well.

The Argentine had been linked with a number of clubs in the summer and his ability to get the best out of players certainly has won him more fans. Reports had claimed that Manchester United were in for the Argentine in the summer and his name was even thrown into the hat for Barcelona’s managerial post. However, Pochettino has now stated that he would not be moving to a couple of clubs.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, the manager said:

“I am an Espanyol supporter. If Daniel Levy sacked me in a few years, it would be impossible to manage Barcelona.

“In football it is difficult to keep values like loyalty but to me loyalty and honesty come before being a manager or a player. I am an Espanyol fan and I love Espanyol. Now I am at Tottenham it would be impossible for me to move to Arsenal one day.”

Tottenham fans will be glad to hear that Pochettino isn’t willing to join their rivals and Barcelona might be upset at the fact that he has ruled him out of the hot seat at the Nou Camp too.

Barcelona’s current manager, Luis Enrique, will step down at the end of the season and there has been a lot of talk about Arsene Wenger also getting the sack at the Gunners. While the Frenchman’s future isn’t set, Pochettino would actually do better staying at Tottenham.

Spurs have a better team and are set to make it to the Champions League next season while Arsenal’s participation isn’t guaranteed. Pochettino has also been able to turn the likes of Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and Mousa Dembele into world beaters while Dele Alli and Harry Kane keep providing the goods.

Tottenham need to keep hold of their manager and he does have a blueprint for success at Spurs. If he can ensure that their big money transfers work out in the future, the London club will certainly be in the big time for years to come.
