Former Manchester United flop Wilfried Zaha is being tipped to join Tottenham in the summer according to a report from Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones. Zaha joined Manchester United in 2013, but the move did not go according to plans, and within two years, he was back at boyhood club Crystal Palace.
It was a major blow for a player of that age with such promising potential. However, he did well to bounce back and is now performing consistently well for the Eagles. In a forgettable season for Crystal Palace, he remains the lone shining star.
Now, Tottenham are reportedly keen on a move for Zaha and may make a move for the winger this summer.
Tottenham’s deadline day signing Moussa Sissoko has failed spectacularly and for sure, Mauricio Pochettino will be disappointed with his performances. A lot was expected of him and he hasn’t managed to live up to the expectations. Erik Lamela has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he continues to recover from his hip injury. The Argentine’s Spurs career hasn’t flared up either and he could be shown the doors in the summer.
The report suggested that a £25 million move for Zaha was seriously considered during January and they have kept a close eye on the Crystal Palace wide man throughout 2016/17 season.
It is expected that either of Moussa Sissoko or Erik Lamela would be sold to free up space to include Wilfried Zaha, who has scored 5 times and registered an impressive 8 assists for Sam Allardyce’s side this season.
Spurs seem to be interested in offering the 24-year old a chance to prove himself at a top club again, after an ill-fated spell at Old Trafford.
Our Verdict
Letting go of Moussa Sissoko might be better than selling Erik Lamela as the Argentine seems to be a better prospect than the Frenchman. Zaha has been doing well for Palace and trying to sign a youngster like him might actually pay off for Pochettino.
