Tottenham Made Favourites To Sign Manchester United Outcast Amidst Mourinho’s Public Lash Out

Luke Shaw’s time at Manchester United is all but over according to the Express. The outlet claims that Jose Mourinho is set to sell the former Southampton left-back in the summer and Tottenham are the favourites to sign him up.

Betfair claims that the second-placed side are 5/2 when it comes to signing the 21-year-old while Everton are second as 4/1 favourites. The other clubs looking to add the Englishman to their side are West Ham, Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

Shaw didn’t take part in the 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford and Mourinho did have another pop at the defender after being asked why the Englishman was not part of the matchday squad.

“Who? Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench. Why? Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Matteo Darmian, with Daley Blind,” Mourinho said after the 0-0 draw with West Brom.

“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”

This isn’t the first time that Mourinho has had a go at Shaw as he questioned his commitment earlier in the season as well.

Tottenham have quality left-backs already

While Spurs have quality defenders in Danny Rose and Ben Davies, Rose has been linked with a move to Manchester City for close to £50 million. It might be tough seeing Mauricio Pochettino give away one of his best players to a rival club but stranger things have taken place in the world of football.

Should Rose actually move to City, Shaw wouldn’t be the worst replacement in the world. Pochettino does have a history of working with young players and Shaw still has a lot of potential in him.

United would want to recoup as much as the £27 million they paid to sign him from the Saints a couple of years ago and a bidding war between the clubs could help them achieve that.
