£50m Dele Alli Is Good Enough For Real Madrid – Former Chelsea Assistant

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid assistant and present Swansea City boss Paul Clement has incurred the wrath of Tottenham supporters by claiming that Dele Alli would be a perfect fit at Real Madrid.

The Englishman has been linked heavily with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in order to become the next marquee signing at Madrid. Over the last few months, there have been plenty of such transfer rumours. In recent weeks, these rumours have cooled off with Chelsea star Eden Hazard being linked with a switch to the Spanish capital. The Chelsea winger has reportedly emerged as the first choice for Madrid, although it is only because they have failed to make any significant inroads in the transfer negotiations for Dele Alli.

Clement has the experience of dealing with Real Madrid as a club. He was the assistant boss in the Madrid dugout when Carlo Ancelotti was the manager of the Spanish club. Clement is someone who is aware about the intense political affairs that take place behind the curtains at Madrid, and he is aware about the kind of player who will be able to come out strong amidst all the politics. He says that Alli is such a strong individual who will be able to take care of himself in the Madrid dressing room. He said:

“Why can’t he make the step up? He’s still so young. All the best players get linked with Real Madrid, Eden Hazard is another one who is being linked at the moment.

“But if these teams want to do well and challenge for trophies, they’ve got to try and keep their best players. Like any player, the more consistent you are, and you’re challenging at the top, then you’re going to be of interest to arguably bigger clubs.”

Gareth Bale’s career was feared when he made the switch to Madrid. After all, a number of high profile players have failed to flourish in the political dressing room of Madrid with one of the most high profile examples being Michael Owen. Yet, Bale has managed to settle in Madrid and it is evident from the two Champions League winner’s medal in his trophy cabinet.

Alli has been one of the biggest names to emerge from Tottenham since the days of Bale. As a result, he has been consistently linked with a £50 million a move away from White Hart Lane. It would not be surprising if Madrid came in with such an offer for the player, especially considering that it would represent just half of the figure they would have to pay for Eden Hazard of Chelsea. The 2015 PFA Player of the Year is once again back to his best and he has been valued at around £100 million.

Hazard is likely to be happy with Chelsea considering that the club are fighting for the top honours. It is a similar situation at White Hart Lane where the club are back in the title race, after narrowing the gap to Chelsea down to 7 points following the latest round of results and it seems the rumour of Alli joining the Galacticos will just remain a rumour.
