Tottenham Transfer News

Tottenham’s hunt for a new creative midfielder has hit Turkish shores as we had earlier shared news that the Premier League side is interested in Oguzhan Ozyakup. Reports now claim that Besiktas want to keep hold of their star player but would not mind selling the player if they get a decent bid coming in.

Aksam newspaper was reporting that the Turkish giants are looking to keep as many of their stars next season as the source stated: “Our priority is to keep our star players, the only way in which the likes of Oguzhan Ozyakup, Tolgay Arslan, Ricardo Quaresma, Cenk Tosun and Gokhan İnler is if our valuation is met or a better off is made.”

The source also claimed that Ozyakup would only have 12 months remaining on his contract at the start of next season and a bid of £12 million would be enough to bring the Turkish midfielder to White Hart Lane.

Ozyakup is known for his creativity in midfield though he plays in a deeper role and could provide Tottenham with another quality option next season. The 24-year-old also has a bit of history when it comes to London club as he was an Arsenal youth player but he couldn’t make it at the Gunners.

Besiktas are trying to get Ozyakup to sign a new deal that would keep him at the club for another 4-5 years. The report claims that the contract extension should include a buy-out clause of £25.6 million, which would be a decent fee to get for the player.

Tottenham need to add more quality to their side as they look to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season as well. And with the fact that Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela are set to leave the club next season, they have to be smart when bringing in players as well.

Ozyakup might not be a known name to Spurs fans but he could turn out to be a smart signing for next season as Tottenham look to win the Premier League.
