Tottenham fans can rejoice with the news that Harry Kane is all set to feature in the game against Watford. The English striker had injured his ankle in the FA Cup win over Millwall and there were fears he would be out for an extended period of time.
However, Mauricio Pochettino, in his press conference stated that Kane is back in training and the only decision he has to take is if the Englishman will be on the bench or in the starting XI.
“Today he was involved with the team and we’ll see tomorrow if I decide that he starts the game or if he will be on the bench but the good news is he is ready and he feels good, fully recovered and I think it is very good news, first of all for him, and then for us,” Pochettino was quoted by Sky Sports.
“He is a very important player for us and to be available again to help the team is fantastic news for us.
“Maybe[he will play this weekend], I need to decide tomorrow if he starts the game or he will be on the bench, but he is good to be involved tomorrow in the squad.
“I think it is important [to have a] recovered player for the last period of the season, always important to have more alternatives for the team.”
This certainly is a major boost for the side as they look to win the Premier League and chase down Chelsea. Kane wasn’t a part of the late 3-1 win over Swansea but even if he does play a few minutes against Watford, it will be a welcome sight for the Spurs fans.
Pau Lopez to get a game?
Pochettino did add that some of the other players are in the running to take part in the next game but Erik Lamela and Danny Rose are more or less set to miss out in the game.
“I think Harry is very good news and then it is true that we have different players like [Erik] Lamela is long term [injury], we’ll see Danny Rose, in the next few weeks maybe will be available too.
“It is important to have all the squad ready to compete and fight because it will be the tougher period of the season.”
Pochettino also added that should Hugo Lloris or Michel Vorm miss out they have Pau Lopez who is ready to step up and hopefully do well in the game against Watford.
