Jamie Redknapp Thinks Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min Would Be Perfect For Liverpool
Former Tottenham and Liverpool player and renowned pundit Jamie Redknapp has made a sensational claim that Tottenham star Son Heung-min would be a perfect signing for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
Redknapp, who was a part of Liverpool for 10 years in the Premier League era, has suggested that the Reds must sign the South Korean if the chance arises.
Son Heung-min has been sensational for Tottenham this season and has scored 18 goals and 8 assists from 39 appearances. He has impressed with his versatility as he has deputised for Kane during his injury-enforced absence since their FA Cup game against Millwall.
Son took up the goal scoring responsibility in the absence of the phenomenal Harry Kane and delivered when it mattered.
This seems to have impressed Jamie Redknapp, who played for Tottenham too, from 2002-05. He believes that Son is the kind of player who Liverpool need to improve next season and has suggested that Liverpool would benefit by signing him.
Jamie Redknapp was quoted: “We all know what Liverpool can do against their top-six rivals. It is when they face sides like Stoke that Jurgen Klopp’s side have faltered. I did not expect Liverpool to fight back and win on Saturday. They have been too nice at times this season. They are scintillating when all is well but when the going gets tough they have lacked character.”
“That win will go some way to help Liverpool finish in the top four but it showed how reliant they are on Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino. When the Brazilian duo, and Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana, are fit Liverpool are unstoppable. What they need next season is a squad player like Heung-min Son who will nick a goal when the first-choice forwards are injured.”
Son Heung-min joined Tottenham in the summer of 2015 for £18m and has made 79 appearances in two seasons at White Hart Lane and has scored 26 goals. He has settled in so well at Tottenham and seems to be gelling up with his teammates nicely.
He has now become an integral part of the Spurs squad. Though he is not as influential as Dele Alli or Harry Kane, it is hard to imagine how Tottenham would have done this season without Son’s contribution. He is valuable, and there is no way Pochettino would sell the South Korean in the summer, never mind selling him to a Premier League rival.
Nice suggestion Jamie! But there are way too many options in the transfer market if Liverpool need to strengthen. Hands off Son Heung-min, please!
