Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is subject to a lot of interest from Everton manager Ronald Koeman according to The Mirror.
The 26-year-old right-back has done pretty well in recent games for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and was also in action in the thumping win over Watford at the weekend.
Koeman is a big fan of the Englishman it seems according to the reports and is willing to submit a bid in the summer to bring the defender over to the Goodison Park. The report claims that the Dutch manager and Everton’s director of football, Steve Walsh, both want to sign the player and will initially stump up £6 million for his services.
Everton do need a quality right-back next season and with no set return date for Seamus Coleman after he broke his knee on international duty. Trippier could be in line for starting a number of games for the Toffees. He has only played seven Premier League games this season under Mauricio Pochettino and would certainly relish the chance to get a few more games under his belt.
Kyle Walker is the first choice right-back at Tottenham and has been in great form this season. There have been rumours that Manchester City are lining up a mega bid to sign the Englishman as well and Spurs will have a fight on their hands to keep hold of both Walker and Trippier.
Daniel Levy is known to be a tough negotiator and he would not be willing to let go of either player on the cheap. Pochettino also knows that if Tottenham are to do better than this season, they have to keep hold of their best players for the immediate future.
Trippier might not be a starter at the moment but he has shown a number of times his quality and Tottenham cannot afford to lose out on the cheap. £6 million is an extremely lowball figure from Koeman at the moment and he would have a battle on his hands as well in trying to keep Ross Barkley away from Spurs.
