Tottenham fans have urged the club to go all out in the race to sign midfielder Isco from Real Madrid. The clamour for the midfielder began after watching him scored twice in the 3-2 on Sporting Gijon during the weekend. Even though they were merely goals against a relegation threatened opponent, it was crucial in the race for the La Liga title as it helped Madrid stay 3 points ahead of Barcelona. The future of Isco has been a much speculated subject. He has been in and out of the first team under the regime of Zinedine Zidane.
The midfielder is out of contract in the summer of 2018, and it is believed that he may be on the lookout for a new challenge in order to play regular first-team football. Isco has been a regular for the club since his move from Malaga back in 2013. It is believed that this is one of the key aspects behind Spurs showing an interest in the player, is the fact that the amount of top level experience the midfielder has gathered at the age of 24.
The fact that Isco’s contract comes to an expiry in just over 12 months makes him an attractive proposition in terms of transfer value. If Isco had a long-term contract, he would be costing very high considering his age and quality. Yet, Tottenham believe that he may be signed for a bargain in the upcoming transfer window. A few years ago, the club may not have been able to pull off the deal considering that their presence in the Champions League was not certain. The club was also not challenging for the top honours, something that Isco is used to doing at Madrid.
Now, Tottenham are one of the top teams in the Premier League. The regime of Mauricio Pochettino has taken the club to new heights. They are the only challenger for Chelsea in the 2016-17 Premier League title. A seven-game winning run has seen the club close the gap on Chelsea to just four points with six games left in the campaign. While fans have been asking for the signing of Isco, a lot will depend on the player himself. Only a few months ago, the midfielder was highly sceptical about his stay at the club.
