Celtic goal machine Moussa Dembele has been the subject of transfer speculation ever since he hit the ground running in Scotland and has been linked with a host of bug clubs across Europe. And now, the latest news is that he is most likely to join Tottenham in the summer.
According to the latest from Sky Sports’ transfer section, backed by Football Whispers, Frenchman could end up at White Hart Lane and may begin 2017/18 season in the Whites of Tottenham.
Moussa Dembele has been a hit since moving to Celtic in the summer and what a signing he has been for the Bhoys. He arrived for free and has scored for fun this season and has caught the attention of all the big clubs in Europe.
He has been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and many other clubs including Tottenham, with Bayern Munich subject to a £30million bid for the attacker.
Dembele has scored a whopping 32 goals this season along with 8 assists. He has played a total of 48 games and this means that he has contributed to 40 goals in 48 appearances. The numbers are remarkable considering the fact that he is just 20-years old. Though some people may argue that his performance has come in a less competitive league, his 5 goals in Champions League (including qualifiers) in 12 appearances show that he is capable of performing in Europe too.
Our Verdict
Dembele would surely be a massive addition to any team, especially to a team like Tottenham who are beginning to nurture young talented players. A host of Tottenham’s current stars are so young and Dembele would probably find it easy to adjust himself to life in London.
Vincent Janssen has been poor this season but it would be unfair on Pochettino’s part to give up on the 22-year old just after one season. Having 3 strikers competing for one starting place could work either way. But there’s a high chance of one of the 3 strikers ending up extremely unhappy at the end of the season.
We’ll have to wait to see if Tottenham really sign Dembele in the summer.
Do you think it would be wise for Spurs to buy Moussa Dembele?
