Tottenham are battling with rivals Arsenal to sign the Czech Republic international, Patrick Schick. The 21-year-old has been in decent form for his Serie A club Sampdoria and has attracted the attention from various clubs across Europe.
The striker has scored 11 goals for his club this season and even has an assist to his name. And it is this goal return in a tough Italian league that has seen Schick garner interest from other big clubs as well.
Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan are some of the clubs from Italy who want to sign the player up but Tottenham seem to be taking serious steps in learning more about the player.
Sport Mediaset (h/t Insidefutbol) claims that the London club is set to send out scouts to Italy to track the playing style of the 21-year-old. This does seem like a good idea by Spurs as they need a quality striker for their side, especially when Harry Kane gets injured or isn’t in good form.
This season Tottenham have been a little lucky when Kane has been injured as the likes of Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli have chipped in with great performances but they cannot risk a barren run in front of goal next season.
Vincent Janssen might be finding his shooting boots now but it might have come too little too late for Mauricio Pochettino as he looks to challenge on more than one front next season.
The Champions League was a disappointment for the White Hart Lane club but Schick could be the answer to those problems. The Czech star is known for his ability to win headers and also can link up well with the rest of the attack.
It will be interesting to see if Pochettino does bid big for the 21-year-old as the club has to be a little careful with their finances thanks to their new stadium being built. Schick might not be the biggest name in the Serie A but Pochettino is one manager who can get the best out of any player.
