Tottenham have had a number of players turn up the style this season and even though the club might not win the Premier League, a number of clubs are looking to snap up some of these talents in the summer.
It should come as no surprise that Christian Eriksen is one player who is on the list of other clubs. The Dane has been just as good as Harry Kane or Dele Alli and now his former manager Frank de Boer claims that Eriksen is ready to take the next step in his career.
Barcelona have been linked with the former Ajax star and De Boer, who did represent the Catalan giants in his playing career, believes Eriksen is a player that would do well with the La Liga giants.
“I think he can have a wonderful career”, De Boer told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.
“First Ajax, then Tottenham, and then the highest level.
“I think he’s ready for a step higher.”
De Boer also highlighted a few features of Eriksen’s game which makes him an ideal player for Luis Enrique’s side next season.
“He has everything that a Barcelona player must have.
“He has an overview, he has a work ethic, and he kicks well with both feet.”
Barcelona will be looking at a number of player arrivals and departures in the summer as current manager Luis Enrique is leaving the side. The Catalan giants did win in El Clasico against Real Madrid but the Galacticos still have the advantage going into the final stretch of the season. With Andres Iniesta struggling with his form and fitness this season, the Catalans have identified Eriksen as the right man to replace the World Cup winner.
Tottenham too have a chance of winning the Premier League but that depends on Chelsea dropping a few points. The Blues did deal Tottenham a psychological blow when the two sides met in the FA Cup semi-final which Spurs lost 4-2.
Nevertheless, Eriksen did have one highlight play in the game when he produced a wonderful cross for Dele Alli to score Tottenham’s second. And should he continue producing outrageous passes like that, Tottenham have a chance of overhauling Chelsea and hopefully avoid Barcelona’s attempt to lure the Dane.
