Kyle Walker of Tottenham

Tottenham could be set to lose one of their best players this season as the Independent reports that Kyle Walker wants a move away from the Lilywhites.

The England international started the season in great form but has found himself being alternated with Kieran Trippier in recent months, something that hasn’t pleased the 26-year-old right-back.

Walker was on the bench against Arsenal as well, a game which Tottenham won 2-0, and it seems like his lack of playing time is due to the fact that Mauricio Pochettino is unsure about the player’s fitness levels and his performances in training. A reason why there has been an alleged row between the pair.

The 26-year-old didn’t play any of the away Champions League games for the London club and the lack of game time means his situation might interest some other clubs in the Premier League for the £35 million-rated defender.

Manchester City and Manchester United are a pair of clubs in England that have been linked with Walker while Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the right-back, according to the same report from the Independent.

Tottenham might be moving to a new stadium soon but they aren’t in a mood to let go of their prized assets on the cheap. Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy would want a lot of money for Walker, should the Englishman want to leave the club in the summer.

Pochettino also asserted that Spurs are not going to be a selling club and will keep the players they want to.

“The players that we want to keep, we will keep,” the Argentine manager had said earlier. “Because [Daniel Levy] said to me ‘we don’t need money’. If we sell some players it is because we want to sell some players. For our fans, it is so clear that all the decisions we take are for the reason to try to improve the team, try to be more competitive next season.”

Walker hasn’t put in a transfer request yet but owing to the fact that Tottenham have a fairly rigid pay structure, but he could earn a lot more at other clubs and the Englishman might be tempted to make the jump to another club in the summer.
