Tottenham Star Christian Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots has spoken out about the player’s future plans as speculations persist about the Dane’s future at the club.

Eriksen has been linked with a move to Barcelona and now, Schoots has revealed that the Denmark international is completely focused on Tottenham and is not distracted by the rumours. It was reported by The Sun that Eriksen was being targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona. But now it looks like the Tottenham faithful can sleep in peace.

Speaking to Danish newspaper BT (h/t Express), Schoots said:

“I prefer not to comment on what the newspapers write about the future. The only thing Christian wants to do is focus on playing his matches. We let the rumours be rumoured, even now, when Christian’s merits as a player who sets up a goal are better than anyone else, and now he scores also very important goals. Christian just wants to be important for the team, it is the only thing that matters to him.”

Eriksen has been in brilliant form this season and has scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists in 45 appearances. He has been outstanding for Tottenham and it is not surprising to see him get linked with top European clubs.

Last month, former Barcelona star Frank De Boer explained how Eriksen would fit in at Barcelona. Talking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet (h/t Express), he said:

“I think he can have a wonderful career. First Ajax, then Tottenham, and then the highest level. I think he’s ready for a step higher. He has everything that a Barcelona player must have.He has an overview, he has a work ethic, and he kicks well with both feet.”

Eriksen signed a new £70,000-a-week deal with Tottenham in September 2016 and is tied to the club until 2020. He wouldn’t certainly be available for cheap and Spurs would receive a lot of money if they decide to sell the playmaker. However, it is hard to see why Tottenham would decide to sell the player as the club is clearly on the way up towards glory.
