It isn’t anything new to see Tottenham get linked with a striker as that has been the case ever since it was evident that Vincent Janssen hasn’t performed well in his first season in England. There has been so much pressure on the young Dutchman and since he has struggled to match the expectations, Spurs have constantly been linked with strikers from all over the world.
Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez is one of those players to have been linked with a move to Tottenham and it was reported by The Sun that Tottenham were interested in Sandro.
The 21-year old has been impressive this campaign and has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances for the Spanish outfit. He also has 3 assists to his name. The Spaniard joined Malaga on a three-year deal from Barcelona last summer. Since then, he has displayed his talent and has shown what he is capable of.
Though Tottenham would have been the front runners to sign a player so young and whose value wouldn’t be too much considering his performances, it is now believed that Spurs have some competition to sign the young Spanish striker. According to Chronicle, Newcastle United have entered the race for Sandro Ramirez.
Earlier, it was revealed that 6 clubs were interested in Sandro’s services, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Villarreal, Liverpool and Everton all showing intent to bring the striker. Now it looks like Newcastle United have joined the race too and why not?
The 21-year old Spaniard has a release clause of £5.1million and it is possible for all the clubs mentioned above to spend such money and sign the player.
Our Verdict
Frankly, Sandro would see Newcastle United as his ideal destination. He will certainly be aware of Newcastle’s rich history and now that the club have been promoted back to the Premier League, the fact that they are willing to spend money would only indicate their ambition to get back to their best.
At Tottenham, Harry Kane is virtually irremovable from the set-up and Janssen has had only one season with Spurs. If given more time, the Dutchman would be able to put this bad season behind him and bounce back. So if Sandro chooses Tottenham, he would have to fight it out with Kane and Janssen for a place in the Spurs XI.
Do you think Sandro should choose Tottenham over Newcastle United?
