Naby Keita does have a lot of suitors thanks to his brilliant performances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga this season. The 22-year-old Guinea midfielder has played in 29 league games for the club and has helped them rise up to second behind Bayern Munich.
While Liverpool have been linked with a move for Keita, Tottenham are also interested in the defensive midfielder. With so many clubs after his signature, the Leipzig man hasn’t yet stated if he is to remain at the club but he is only looking ahead to this season at the moment.
“I’m very comfortable at Leipzig,” Keita told German newspaper Bild (h/t Mirror)
“There are still three games to go, that’s what I’m concentrating on. My agent takes care of everything else. When it’s time, I’ll discuss it with him and my family.”
Valued at £26 million, Keita plays a deeper role in midfield and he would form a great partnership with Victor Wanyama in the heart of the Tottenham team.
The 22-year-old has been great going forward as well and has scored eight goals and has provided seven assists in the Bundesliga. His endless energy and tackling would be brilliant for the manner in which Tottenham play and Keita does look like a player who can make the push up to the Premier League.
Tottenham haven’t really have a lot of success when it comes to their big money signings under Mauricio Pochettino but Keita certainly would be a perfect pairing for Wanyama.
Our Verdict
The Guinea star certainly would be ahead of the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and maybe Mousa Dembele. Keita would not come on the cheap though as he still has three years remaining on his current contract and Leipzig have often stated that they don’t need to sell any of their players next season.
Keita will be an expensive signing nonetheless and if Spurs do get him, they will have nabbed one of the hottest players from the Bundesliga.
