Tottenham have had a mentally tiring season and with the number of games we have played with the squad at our disposal, it really has been a long season. Players are human beings too and after a long season of hard and intense football, they certainly need rest to their bodies and minds.
That doesn’t seem to be the case here with Tottenham, as the boys are set to travel to Asia to face Kitchee SC on May 26 at the Hong Kong Stadium in a friendly game. Sounds absurd? We felt the same too.
Tottenham have been a part of 4 competitions this season and more importantly, they ‘competed’ on all fronts. It wasn’t mere participation, unlike a certain Red team from London. The fatigue is there for everyone to see and the poor form of Sissoko and Janssen hasn’t helped the team’s cause, as rotation became difficult for Pochettino after few months of inconsistency from both the players.
The boys need rest once the season is over but what the club have decided to do is make the team travel to Hong Kong for a friendly.
The fans did not take the announcement well when it was revealed on the club’s official Twitter account and they reacted straight away and rightly so.
Here’s the club’s tweet
We’re heading back to Hong Kong!
We’ll play Kitchee SC at the Hong Kong Stadium on 26 May.

The fans didn’t seem too happy with this…
@SpursOfficial How’s about a tournament at Wembley to help the team settle in that sodding stadium & avoid a series of bad results there in the season?

@SpursOfficial not ideal but our sponsors AIA are an Asian company, so makes sense. Just have long rest after. Then friendlies at Wembley

@SpursOfficial How about some domestic friendlies without travel to help avoid the terrible starts we make that cost us both of the last two league titles?
— Matt Field (@Fieldy_21) May 8, 2017
