Tottenham Hotspur’s reported target Jean Michael Seri has been quoted a price, according to TalkSport. The midfielder was earlier reported as a transfer target for Tottenham and Arsenal by the Guardian. Now, the Ivorian has reportedly been quoted a price tag of £33.5 million by his employers OGC Nice, as rumours begin to gather strength.
Spurs have been lucky in the central midfield department as there have not been too many injury woes for Pochettino to handle, despite the apparent lack of depth there. Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele, Harry Winks and Eric Dier have been used in central midfield extensively. Moussa Sissoko is another player who is capable of playing in the centre.
However, there are only 4 recognised central midfielders (considering Eric Dier as well as he does well as a CM), with Harry Winks now currently sidelined due to an injury. Dier has been primarily used as a central defender and since Tottenham are light at the back and play with a 3-back formation, Dier becomes an important part of the defence.
The recent absence of Mousa Dembele saw Pochettino switch things around and it wasn’t convincing by any means. This means that Spurs surely need some strengthening in that department if they are to sustain a stronger title challenge next season.
This season, the team played much better but unfortunately, the league title is likely to elude us again. After putting all the pressure on Chelsea, Tottenham blew it away against West Ham United by losing 1-0.
It is rather good to see Spurs being constantly linked with moves for central midfielders, central defenders and wingers. Those are the three areas that need some massive reinforcements.
Our Verdict
The reported Spurs target Jean Michael Seri has been an important member of the current Nice squad that has performed incredibly well in the Ligue1. They have surpassed all the expectations and are set to play in the Champions League as well next season (if they make it past the qualifying stages).
The 25-year old Ivorian has made 37 appearances for Nice this season and has scored 6 goals. He also has 9 assists to his name in all competitions and considering that he does not play as an attacking midfielder, the numbers do look good. It will be interesting to see if this news develops further.
Do you think Jean Michael Seri would be a good signing for Tottenham?
