The craziness regarding transfers before the start of the upcoming season isn’t just limited to players as Mauricio Pochettino is subject to a rather ludicrous rumour of joining Serie A’s Inter Milan.
The Argentine has had a great season at Tottenham, once again, and is set to finish second in the Premier League but Calcio Mercato carries a report where Sky Sport (Italy) claim that the former Espanyol manager has a release clause and the Milan giants are willing to trigger the same.
There is still some relief with the report claiming that Pochettino isn’t the number one choice to take over at the club. Chelsea’s Antonio Conte is the man that Inter want and if the Italian isn’t set to leave the Blues, they have set their eyes on Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid.
Should the Atletico man also decide to snub Inter, they would only have two options, Pochettino and AS Roma’s Luciano Spalletti. Tottenham’s Pochettino reportedly has a release clause of €5 million in his current contract and the Italian giants are willing to pay as much as €10 million-a-year.
To be honest, Pochettino will attract attention from the top clubs in the world and it is no surprise that there is speculation about his future at Spurs. Even with securing Champions League football for another season, the Argentine has been linked with a move to Barcelona as well, as Luis Enrique leaves the club in the summer.
However, the manager has dismissed all the rumours in his latest interview. Football.London quoted Pochettiono as saying;
“There are many rumours now. In the last months, many, many rumours and that’s another rumour. Nothing to say about rumours. I don’t talk about rumours.”
But Spurs fans shouldn’t fret about such links as Pochettino does have a plan in place at the club and wouldn’t be looking to leave the team in the dark. He knows there is something special about Tottenham at the moment as we are having the best years in recent times and only a piece or two is missing from the jigsaw that could land us a cup or two soon.
