Tottenham have been linked with loads of players in the summer and the latest one is a certain Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has been linked with a £25m move to the Lilywhites. According to Daily Mail and Evening Standard, Tottenham are considering a shock swoop for the Iceland international, who has been brilliant for a poor Swansea City side this season.
While Spurs fans are known for their active participation on social media, this time too, the supporters didn’t fail to amaze us with their sarcastic and funny comments regarding the news.
Yes, Tottenham do need some reinforcements in the squad but many of them felt that the buy would be unnecessary and that Sigurdsson wouldn’t get into the Tottenham XI. It has to be noted that Pochettino is fond of the player and back in December made some positive comments on him. Quoted by Evening Standard, the Argentine manager said:
“I think he was a perfect player for us. But, in that moment, it was the club’s decision and his decision to move to Swansea to find another way.
“Every time we’ve met him, he’s shown his qualities, not only as a player, but as a man.”
Sigurdsson has been the only bright spot in a dull Swansea season which saw them get involved in a tight relegation scrap. Somehow, they survived it but had it not been for Sigurdsson’s brilliance, it would have well been a different story.
The fans took Twitter to express their opinion on the latest report and we managed to gather some tweets and put them together to make a reading.

@MailSport @Ian_Ladyman_DM If he’ll be wise, he’ll stay at Swansea or prefer Everton.

@MailSport @HazSpur92 @Ian_Ladyman_DM Doesn’t get in the first team or have the pace and trickery, which is what we need in away games

@MailSport @simondavies45 @Ian_Ladyman_DM No chance of him going back there, particularly for only £25M – would have to be a buyout clause for Swansea to take that for him to go.

@HotspurRelated Would be a very smart signing. Bin the Barkley deal, go for siggy

@HotspurRelated As much as I love Gylfi, I wouldn’t see the point of it. He would still be a fringe player and he’s too good for that.
