Odds Slashed – Tottenham Told To Be Surprise Favourites To Sign Talented Atletico Madrid Striker

Kevin Gameiro

Harry Kane wrapped up another great season with a hat-trick against Hull City and ended up winning the Golden Boot once again. While the Englishman has gone from strength to strength at Tottenham, there hasn’t really been a proper cover for him.

Although Janssen has struggled this season, it doesn’t really look like Pochettino would replace him. Nevertheless, the latest striker now linked with Spurs is Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro. Yes, the same striker that was set to blaze goal scoring records at Atletico after his move from Sevilla. However, the Frenchman hasn’t found regular playing time at the La Liga club and could be willing to leave the side in the summer.

Spurs have surprisingly been made 4/1 favourites to sign the 30-year-old striker, by Bet Victor and even though Gameiro is a new player to be linked with the side, he wouldn’t be the worst signing for Poch and the team.

The French striker has only started in 21 games for Diego Simeone’s side this season and he does have 12 goals and 5 assists to his name, which isn’t a bad record to have. The 30-year-old could take up the role of a secondary striker, given his lack of playing time but his situation at Atletico could change next season.

Antoine Griezmann is expected to leave the Spanish side in the summer and Gameiro could be given the striker’s role by Simeone.

Our Verdict

Poch does have to be careful with his finances but the chance of playing in the Premier League in one of the brightest and young teams in the world could be a proposition Gameiro wouldn’t want to give up on.

For now, we will have to wait and see if Poch really does want to bring in a striker, as Janssen deserves another chance to prove himself. Janssen is young, he looks motivated and clearly, he is putting a lot of effort to get back to form. For now, Kevin Gameiro is an unnecessary luxury. Maybe we can sign him once he proves himself better?
