There has been a lot of speculation regarding Kyle Walker’s future at Tottenham as the right-back featured as a substitute in the final few weeks of the campaign as Pochettino decided to use Kieran Trippier in the starting XI. A lot of reports surfaced the internet regarding the possible departure of Kyle Walker from Tottenham, claiming that Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in signing the player.
However, the fans do not seem interested in watching the player leave the club. Walker is easily one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and there’s no doubting that. His presence has been important for Tottenham over the years and he will remain important if he stays at the club. He’s one of the longest-serving players at the club and knows the values that Tottenham carry.
Despite all the prayers from the fans, the latest report in the Metro is claiming that Walker has already decided to leave Tottenham and it is said he decided it as early as the spring. The report also claims that Manchester City are leading the race for Walker and that the Sky Blues are confident they will wrap up the transfer before the start of their pre-season. Walker seems set to double his current £70,000 a week salary by joining City.
Tottenham have also informed City Walker’s price tag and Pep Guardiola is more than happy with the fee and is ready to pay up the required amount. This will come as a massive blow for us as we have just about set out with a winning XI. The core team is extremely strong, and consists of a lot of English players; Walker being one of them, and has challenged for the league title for two seasons now.
The team can only get better from here and it would be disastrous to let Walker leave the club. His absence would surely be felt by the team as he has been one of the most consistent players for Tottenham over the years.
Nevertheless, the club will benefit from the fact that they would be receiving a good sum of money for Walker, which can be re-invested to replace him. Trippier seems to be a good fit but it would be safe to buy another quality right-back so that the new signing and Trippier can fight it out for a starting place.
Do you think losing Walker would be a big blow?
