Moussa Sissoko’s future at Tottenham has been up in the air possibly ever since he joined the club. There were many fans who doubted the ability of the French midfielder and when we made the move for the former Newcastle man, there always was pressure on him to perform.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t win the fans over and Mauricio Pochettino is set to sell the player off as soon as possible. While there have been French clubs linked with a move for Sissoko, Bleacher Report carries news that the Chinese Super League could be a destination for the 27-year-old. While football.London have placed him at 5/1 to move to China.
The report claims that a number of clubs are interested in acquiring the services of a player who only started 12 games last time around and negotiations between the parties are already underway.
Sissoko did recently claim (Daily Mirror) that his future has to be resolved by the club soon and the report claims that the Frenchman is open to the idea of moving to China.
A win-win situation for Tottenham
This probably is the greatest bit of news to come regarding Sissoko and if it comes true, Daniel Levy and his team would have pulled off a massive coup. Chinese clubs are known for their over spending and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Levy gets the full price he was supposed to pay for Sissoko over the course of his contract at White Hart Lane.
In all probability, no other club, from England or France, would have stumped up the £30 million (over the course of 5 years) for him last season and if the deal does go through, Sissoko would get a lot of first-team chances, something that hasn’t been the case at Tottenham.
The problem would be the level of competition in China. Sissoko has spoken about moving to a club in preparation for the 2018 World Cup but playing in the Super League doesn’t really count for all that much, when compared to European football.
The deal, if it does take off, will be huge for Tottenham but since Sissoko wants to play for a spot in the French national side, this might take a lot of work from our side to conclude.
