There has been some massive speculation about Kyle Walker’s future at Tottenham, ever since he was replaced by Kieran Tripper in the final few weeks of the 2016/17 campaign. The Englishman has been the talk of the town since then and his situation doesn’t seem to be improving.
Manchester City were reportedly closing in on a £40million deal for Kyle Walker but nothing is official yet. Though it looks increasingly possible that Walker may leave Tottenham this summer, there is always some little hope when no news is official.
Walker is currently on national duty with the England team and was questioned about his future. The defender offered “no indication at all” over where his future lies amidst links with City.
For now though the 27-year-old seems focused on England’s World Cup qualifier in Scotland on Saturday.
When asked whether transfer stories were proving to be a distraction Walker was insistent. “Not at all. I mean, you know coming away from club football kind of gives you a little bit of head space. I am an England player now and I am fully focused on a massive game on Saturday. We need to go and get the three points.”
Asked whether he could give an indication on where he would be next season, the right-back told Sky Sports (h/t Evening Standard): “No, no indication at all.”
With the Englishman not ready to give away any hint on his future, it is not possible to conclude on anything. However, he seems aware of what is happening around him and surely, we can expect some big news regarding Walker once the International games are done.
Kieran Trippier has established himself as a strong contender for the starting berth in the Tottenham XI and Walker is no longer the first name on the teamsheet. Things have now gone beyond control and hopefully, the club and Walker decide on the future and arrive at a feasible conclusion.
However, it doesn’t really look like Walker would be staying at Tottenham beyond the summer. What is your take on Walker’s future at Tottenham?
