Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko is on the verge of sealing a move away from the North London outfit, just a year after coming to the club for a club record fee of £30million. The signing of Sissoko was seen as a panic buy by Tottenham after having failed to secured most of their transfer targets. Yet, there was a reason to believe that the 27-year-old would be a success in Mauricio Pochettino’s team, given his strength, stamina, and qualities on the ball. However, the Frenchman has been a major disappointment after managing only 8 starts in the Premier league.

He has not scored in his 34 appearances for Spurs across all competitions. However, it looks like Olympic Marseille might make an offer for the player. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to demand the interested clubs to pay close to the £30million paid to Newcastle in the summer of 2016. But it is possible that we have to accept some losses in order to get the player off the books.

Sissoko was expected to be a top central midfielder in the Spurs team, but Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele were the major forces in the centre of the park under Mauricio Pochettino. They were a tremendous combination, and this resulted in Sissoko, who was often played on the right side of the midfield – getting very few opportunities during the 2016-17 season.

Despite Sissoko’s poor season, Marseille remain keen on taking the player to their club and if it is that they are so interested in the Frenchman, it would be a win-win for all the 3 parties involved.

Sissoko has a lot of experience in the French league after spending much of his professional career here. He came through the ranks at Toulouse and made the switch to Newcastle back in 2013. A return to French football when he is still at the prime phase of his career will be a good move for the player.

It doesn’t look like he is going to make it big at Tottenham and the fans have lost the patience as well. His attitude hasn’t been impressive either. So it would be a nice move by Poch to get rid of Sissoko!
